At the Village Chinese Restaurant
It's not elegant nor is it high
cuisine, but
offers tasty, hefty servings at fair
prices.
It's a townie kind of place,
favored by construction workers
with their salty chatter.
From time to time I meet Ted and Eve
for lunch, we talk, we laugh and
we commiserate. And so we did again.
In years past I could strut in,
these days I need my walker.
In years past Ted would sail in,
these days he uses a cane.
The eatery is the like it's always
been,
we are not.
