Then and Now

Then and Now

I watch the protesters march

I see the crowds express outrage

at the treatment of some Americans

because of the hue of their skin.

I see the crowds of Americans,

crowds of all hues from pale to dark.

I watched the protesters march

fifty years ago express outrage

at the treatment of some Americans.

The crowd was of mostly a dark hue

with few of a pale hue.

I see a peaceful crowd

focused on attainable goals.

I saw mobs showing rage

filled with righteous anger.

I see little vandalism.

I saw swaths of burned out buildings.

A change has happened

maybe the change will make

a change of treatment.

Then

Now
