Days After Thanksgiving
The turkey dinner was truly fine,
now sit plastic boxes all in a line.
Puritan ethic says we mustn't waste,
so the uneaten foods will be cased.
In the red ones bird meat is packed,
both the white and the dark, in fact.
Stuffing, gravy, yams, spuds, peas,
and carrots, in blue boxes one sees.
Specially saved are pies and cakes,
unique desserts everyone makes.
Sandwiches, chowder, croquettes and
hash
will be eaten later, with potatoes
mash.
The holiday is wonderful it's true,
as later tasty left-overs are too.
