Year of the Dog

A zodiac followed in many Asian lands,
a twelve year cycle of animals for each sign,
each creature has traits for which it stands,
some not so good others are really fine.

Two thousand eighteen is the year of the hound,
those of this sign are loyal, valiant and smart.
Certainly in the world many are found,
they've a stubborn streak and a sensitive heart.

Under which ever sign a person is born,
all have points strong and weak.
Surely no one needs brag or mourn,
it's the examined life all should seek.

Nigel is a neighbor, whose family rescued him from a shelter. He is part poodle and parts unknown. Nigel accompanies his family to nursing homes, adult day care and rehab centers to help cheer up the patients. He often takes his mom and dad for walks around the neighborhood.
