Bunker Hill and Valley Forge
They were there.
Fort Sumter and Gettysburg
They were there.
Verdun and The Somme
They were there.
Omaha Beach and The Bulge
They were there.
Pusan and Taegu
They were there.
Hue and Da Nang
They were there
The young left home,
family and friends
to do what they had to do.
Some came home,
some came home broken,
some didn’t come home.
They did their duty.
Veterans Day 2
Up Main Street with the red, white and blue,
come women and men to whom honor is due.
Some in wheel chair, with canes or hair gray,
others young and well, respect each, every day.
Today is for Veterans and to thank them all,
when the time came they answered the call.
