Bill’s Memorial Service
The service combined
the happy music of life and
the sad murmur of a friend gone.
Bill had been a scientist,
a scholar, a family man,
a business man and a truth-seeker.
I knew Bill for thirty years,
I knew him as an artist,
I knew him as a curmudgeon,
I knew he was usually on point.
Ted stood to give testament,
recounting that Bill once gazed
at his painting and said,
“it has no focus point“.
Ted made a small change and
created a worthy picture.
Bill the teacher, taught us
an image needs a focus point,
as does a life.
