between the police station and
the fine hotel, across from the bank
like a beacon to young and old,
sits the red brick community center.
there young people come to play
at diverse sports and games.
girls and boys come as teams
or alone - learning the ethics of sports.
they come for the teen clubs,
for the arts and craft,
and do things for fun.
old people come to work with
yarn, to play table games,
to exercise both body and mind,
to have fun writing poems.
a center for the town
there on Main Street standing tall,
the big red building calling all.
