harvest

harvest

there’s a farm on Hatchville Road
with vast bounty in the fall.
this past spring seeds were sowed
now abundant yields are the haul.

orange pumpkins on the ground
glow bright in the autumn sun
fattened turkeys make their sound
for a native bird, this is the one.

the corn has grown straight and high
green gives way to leaves of tan
asters’ colors, few can vie
this flower has many a fan.

now harvest flora, fauna and soul,
they’re needed to make us whole.
