senses of places

senses of places

he stood amazed at the stark
elegant beauty of  the Eiffel Tower.
he stood in awe of the graceful
      symmetry of the Acropolis.
he stood spellbound  by the majestic
      grandeur of Mount Fuji.
in this grand and spacious world
he saw and trod on many
      well known, or not, wonders.

he found other wonders to amaze,
       to awe and to spellbind
in his native New England .
there are quiet laps or loud roars
      of the ever-changing sea
          with its indigo and white.
there is solitude in the hushed woods
by the smooth calm pond with
the occasional duck breaking the silence .
there is the hiss and whoosh
      of  rain and the undulating
           grass of the salt marsh.
nowadays he appreciates
      other diverse unsullied splendors.
