cinquains

cinquains

Lincoln
honest,  resolute
saved the union
private tragedies, strong-minded
hero

groundhog
sees his shadow
six more weeks to winter
don’t put away the warm jacket
snow squalls

June
bright, content
playing, lounging, enjoying
a season of optimism
 renewal

A cinquain is a five line poem created by Adelaide Crapsey about 1900. Cinquains, like haiku, use syllable or word count as well as other rules.  There is more than one pattern for the form.
