December
the puddle has a skin of ice,
crunch-crunch when shoes meet grass.
folks wear black pea coats,
watch caps and mismatched scarves.
acrid whiffs of oak wood
smoke pervade the air.
colorful lights hang from eaves.
through the windows is seen
here a lighted tree, there a dreidel.
it is still late fall to me, and toward the end of the Thanksgiving season. However, I put up the outside christmas lights.
