exercise - part one


exercise - part one

each day he performs
a dozen work outs.
and these he does
at least three times.

there are step climbs,
weight shifts, toes up,
side steps, hip circles,
knee bends, trunk twists,
ankle bends and chair rises.
each is tedious, boring
and  tiresome.
but the body has its needs.

in fitter younger days
was the bicycle, the hikes,
and the long walks.
now only their shadows.
