first of summer
first of summer
the real but unseen line is crossed
as the sun seems to move north.
yesterday it’s spring
today it’s summer.
the rhododendron and crocuses
flowered weeks ago.
now it’s the turn of the intense
orange short-lived flower with its
many petals, the day lily.
a week ago I needed another blanket
today I remove the blankets.
Still we must wait
for the variegated hostas and its
high-reaching spikes
with soft magenta blooms.
time passes,
everything in it‘s time.
