with not a little anxiety
he’s advised to go
to rehab to build
his strength and skills.
there he meets Jason and Emmy.
both put him at once at ease.
each knows how to help,
each has a clever mind
and a quick humor. they
will help him rebuild his body.
each day for three hours
he’s encouraged to develop
his body and its skills.
he’s encouraged firmly
and pleasantly.
he’s given confidence to do
the tasks which will build
the damaged body.
now when he does common
tasks - climbs the attic stairs,
picks up the morning newspaper,
makes lunch, walks around
the grocery store, drives to the post office-
he’s grateful for the two great people.
