George

George

George was in his late eighties
offering a course on making
stained glass at the senior center.
Life had just changed for me
and it was time to engage the world
again.

In the class of ten or twelve
George kindly guided us
through the steps of the
Tiffany method of making projects.
Rule one was ….
never try to catch a piece
of falling glass!
George gave full-credit to the
creative bent of the students.

For two or three years
I joined every class George
taught.  Then one sad day
George was no more.

I missed George and to a lesser
extent I missed making stained-glass.

Now every week I  go still
to the senior center
at the same day of the week and
time when George taught his
class and I create with glass.
Every week I use George’s tools.
Every week I think of George.
