winter ends haiku

winter ends
haiku

home is the robin
still snow patch in the shade
the worst has passed

deep snow north in the Hub
rain dribbles pass my window
ah, relax

a pair of cardinals near the holly
here and there sprouts of grass
spring is near

still daylight to the west
as I cook rice and squash
winter wanes

morning ice on the puddle
afternoon birds bathing
soon the crocus
