the thrills of life
for the boy
a piece of chocolate
deep brown and melting
in his hand and mouth
sweet and bitter
nothing could rival
the thrill of its flavor
for the young man
stepping up to the plate
hitting the ball to the outfield
the crowd roars
he slides to second
nothing could rival
the thrill of its purity
for the grown man
going to work daily
then a promotion
an award for quality
of work done well
nothing could rival
the thrill of its recognition
for the old man
eating some chocolate
doing simple exercise
doing work and
calling it a hobby
nothing can rival
the thrill of his choices
