A Walk Along Boxberry Hill Road
How good he is
gathering litter,
cleaning this tranquil road.
Candy wrappers and chip bags
in one plastic sack
cans in another
bottles in a third.
How good he is
to make life more joyous
with a clean road.
Is it for others
he does this?
It is for him.
It is for his own joy
among the oaks, pines
and elms and the yellow
buttercups and blue chicories
among the chickadees,
rabbits and chipmunks.
He finds joy
in the pristine.
He finds joy in
meditative walks.
